Writing Divorce Vows
want some kind of ceremony but not get married?
Me and my Ex husband got Divorced about 3 years ago, we both still love each other very much and hope to some day soon get back together, how ever, we both don't want to get married to each other but plan on getting legal papers for emergency situations and financial situations,my question is what kind of a nice ceremony could we have and invite our good friends and family too, without the legal marriage papers etc...? Any suggestions for a ceremony, and some things I could write to say instead of the usual wedding vows ? This is very important to me as we both are not getting any younger, I am 59 and he is soon to be 65. Thanks for any of your very kind suggestions
If you are dying to have a ceremony, then have an absolutely beautiful one with all the party bells and whistles. Your actual ceremony shouldn't be much longer than 10 minutes and shouldn't resemble a wedding with the white cake and frilly dress or anything, but you can have lots of lovely decor and a heartfelt ceremony. Since it won't be a marriage, you don't need a licensed officiant, so use whomever you think will perform a lovely ceremony and do some searches online to see what you can find for a script. There are a ton of GLBT sites out there that have some commitment ceremony scripts, along with plenty of mainstream sites.
