New Paul McCartney Album
Sir Paul McCartney has been secretly recording a number of old pop songs to be released sometime in the near future on a full-length standards album. Celebrity gossip websites claim that he joined together with the wife of Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, who is an accomplished singer/songwriter, and the two have been in the studio for some months coming up with a suitable track list to release as his first full-length covers album.
According to the former Beatles heart-throb, an album like this has been in the works for years, decades even: "I've wanted to do that kind of thing forever, since the Beatle days. But then Rod [Stewart] went mad on it. I thought: ‘I have to wait so it doesn't look like I'm trying to do a Rod.'" That wait is over at long last and the album will be full of what McCartney calls "my dad's style of music".
Fans will get a glimpse into who the inspiring frontman considers his inspiration as he has pored over the hand-picked songs: "They're just songs I admire. I'm trying to steer away from the apparent ones. It's get-home-from-work music. You put it on and get a tumbler of wine." A perfect set of music to span generations is expected when the new album finally hits stores.
This will be McCartney's first release since Paul McCartney Live in Los Angeles was made available to The Mail on Sunday newspaper in the UK in 2010, and it was 2007 that his last studio album was released. McCartney is also working on what he described as a "heavier rock album", hopefully to be in conjunction with Dave Grohl, frontman for the Foo Fighters.
McCartney has also hit the celebrity news headlines as he is recently engaged to Nancy Shevell, a 51-year-old business woman from New York City, who will be Sir Paul's third wife. The two reportedly kindled their relationship in the midst of McCartney's divorce from ex-wife Heather Mills when the two flew Antigua, in the Caribbean, and rented a villa for £6,000 a night.
The couple seem to be a good match in everything, including their complementary tumultuous pasts. McCartney has had a well-documented history of mishaps and misfortunes including drugs, sex and death. Apparently Ms.Shevell has battled cancer and lost many close to her for various different reasons, the least of which has been her family's close ties to the Mafia in the United States. The two have been together for four years now and made their engagement public in early May.
