Sceptical about cynicism?

One of the questioners, pro feminist, drew a rosy picture if the VAWA was repealed. Violence will increase, shelters will be closed, murder rate will increase. How charming!

That disturbed me profoundly. Not the "rosy" picture, but the amount of cynicism it showed towards men. That somehow men were to be restrained from hurting women.

I am very sceptical about that kind of cynicism, believing in the worse side of men's behavior and making laws accordingly. Divorce laws, VAWA and ever broadening legal definition of rape etc. are the most cynical laws if you ever delve into the philosophy of their enactment.
There is no difference between a preemptive war and these laws - from a philosophical point of view.

Is that common of general feminist proponents?
Have they moved away from the first creed of judiciary - innocent until proved otherwise?
Is punishing guilty more important than protecting the innocent?

I'm afraid that therin lies the rub; that, indeed, modern Feminism is based upon the very notion that men are guilty until proven otherwise.

The very notion that men inherently have a vested interest in harming women or are uninterested in defending women is predicated on a belief that men must, invariably, be so dim-witted that they must join a movement to advance women's rights.

Modern Feminism is largely predicated on this very notion that as men, we are always guilty until proven otherwise (by whatever burden they choose).
