Divorce Remedy Book

I'm a happy person but...?

My dad left are family on thanksgiving day. I was always talking about how much I hated him and how he was so angry all the time how he looked at everything with a negative attitude. Now he's gone and I realize that I am part of the reason why he was like that. My mom was reading this book called "the divorce remedy" and it was describing the symptoms of this kind of depression. all the symptoms I just stated about my dad and his negativity. He was depressed and I am part of the reason why. Now my mom's heart is broken and I helped it to be that way. Is there any hope he will come back? What should I do?

Sounds to me like a long hand written (more personal) letter is in order. You need to sit down and pour your heart out to your dad. As a dad myself, my oldest son wrote me from Iraq to tell me he was sorry for how he acted and to tell me that I was a good father. I cant tell you how much that letter means to me. That was the best gift my son could have ever given me. Every child and father has hard times. We (parents) are not always going to see eye to eye with our children. But let me fill you in on a secret.....We aren't perfect.

Our children did not come with owners manuals or instructions. We as parents can only do what we feel is right at the time. Sometimes what we decide isn't the best in the long run and that is when we have to apologize to our children and tell them we made a wrong decision and hope they will forgive us.
