Divorce Equity Splits

divorce asset trading 401k vs home value etc?

ok, i'm going to word this question better. Firstly, I KNOW everything is split 50/50, secondly this is an amicable divorce. What i would like to know is, has anybody got experience of 'trading' value from one asset to another. example; if our house has $100,000 equity, and my 401k is worth $100,000, we both get $50,000 of each by default, but i could give her the entire value of the house and i keep all of my 401k or vice versa if she is willing. she actually wants the first option, but i then have no liquid assets to buy another house for my kids to live in so we will probably do some combination of the 2. anybody got any good or bad stories of doing this?

...get a good lawyer, who specializes, in this type of settlement...
...enjoy!
