Divorce Depression

26yr.old life depression: occurs in the divorce / alcoholic home, drugs worth it? Lexapro?
You know, suffer from anxiety and depression all my life, I do not want to blame, but I would say he was born of a father Alcohol and divorce in early childhood. First tried Once the alcohol and drugs in high school, but found a much faster repair ... I was a heavy drinker since - even through college (Do not know how I did it). I try to be self-reflective of today's consumer habits, have a great job and I still feel that shock people, but I feel very empty inside. With the recent end of a long relationship, I'm watching the medication (Lexapro in particular). I feel like I've never been able to concentrate due to a question, the depressed mind and is now worse than ever. I tried to practice positive thinking, religion seeking drugs, and everyone can find inner peace, but always distracted. Are drugs the answer? My concerns come from the side effects and the idea I can not drink alcohol. Advice?
I have 24 years and I was on Lexapro (Celexa currently, which is very similar ... my insurance would not cover Rx Lexapro). Personally, Lexapro did wonders for me. No "cure" depression, but to help return control of your thoughts - you can "deal" with life better. It helped a lot with my anxiety in particular. There Once was afraid to leave house b / c he did not want to have an anxiety attack. Side effects can vary, but the most common seems to be the loss of libido, nausea (only at first), dizziness (ditto), etc. It usually takes several weeks for the medicine to take, in fact, so may not notice a difference at first. As soon as taking it with alcohol, personally I did (when I leave, only occasionally), and especially the effects are like having a bad block. It's not really something you want to do often. Alcohol is a depressant anyway, then maybe start thinking about weaning her, or at least not drink so much. Talk to your doctor about the effects of alcohol and Lexapro to get a better idea of what to expect. Most importantly, be prepared. You can do this through!
